carpet INSTALLATION

BEFORE

  • Now that you have ordered your flooring the preparation for the big day begins. To start all rooms need to be cleared of furniture.

  • If you decide that is a task you would rather not take on our installers would be happy to that task off your plate. It does cost a little more but worth every penny.

  • Our installers will do the heavy lifting and shuffling but you will still need to move all knick-knacks, plants, lamps, pictures, electronics, clothes, and disassemble any furniture required to be moved.  Closets need to be left with a 4 foot working areas from the floor up.

DURING

  • You need to be available the day of installation to grant access and answer any questions our installers may have.  Please keep yourself, your kids and pets out of harm’s way.  Your safety is a top priority.

  • Carpet is latex backed and the warmer it is the better it stretches.  Should it be a cold day or even a basement installation the installer may ask that you turn the heat up or AC to be shut off.  All vents need to be closed in rooms not in the installation area. While it may seem uncomfortably warm to you the carpet will love it and the long term installation will be better.

AFTER

  • Our installers will do the initial vacuuming of your new carpet and return furniture to its rightful place.

  • Over the first few weeks expect to vacuum a little more as your carpet may shed.

  • If the new carpet has a taller pile than the original carpet, doors will need to be undercut. This is something that can be done by a handy man or interior trim carpenter.

  • Some carpet styles can show the placement of the seam tape more than others. This is referred to as telegraphing, or peaking, and it is particularly noticeable in low cut pile and looped carpets. A seam may be excellent and considered ‘tight’ but can still be seen.

MOSTLY IMPORTANTLY, ENJOY YOUR NEW CARPET!
